Flowers in the Window

There is a song by Travis called Flowers in the Window. If you have never heard it you should listen. It makes me think of Russ and how I think he is "one in a million" and that more than anything I am "glad [he] feels the same". It makes me think of our decision to be together forever and watch our "flowers" grow.

Our little flowers (besides Russ) are the happiest part of my life. They are so fun/funny. Beautiful, smart, the list goes on. I love them so much that there are not words. One day while driving in the car and listening to this song I was wondering(again) when (and if) I was going to get pregnant again. Then a line from the song stuck out to me, "there is time to plant new seeds and watch them grow, so there'll be flowers in the window when we go". Yes, I realized, there is time. Then I thought about how I had been comforted by Travis' songs through the worst of my pregnancy sickness, through a miscarriage, and through the end of pregnancy(those long days waiting for the baby to come), and even having a new baby in the house. I wonder if Fran ever thought he would be comforting a women through all aspects of pregnancy. Even a lack of it.
Well last week I found out that I am pregnant. Yea! I found out on a Friday morning and I had to tell someone. But I didn't want to call and tell Russ on the phone so I told William and he said, "awesome". Then William and I made a valentine to give to Russ to break the new to him.
William drew a picture that I scanned and put inside the card. Isn't it the best. (He still draws Russ with a beard even though he hasn't had one for a while.) I love this picture in so many ways.

Here is Russ reading his valentine. And William is holding his head because he bumped it earlier and apparently it still hurt.
So Russ held him for awhile.
So now it is a week later and I am feeling pretty sick, but I have not thrown up. I am trying so hard not to throw up. I really hope I can last. But it is hard. I have to eat all the time. And if the food isn't sitting right I have to sit or lay down in hopes that it won't come up. Sometimes these things are hard to do. Yesterday in church I was munching on my friends little boys graham crackers.
The kids have both been really good and understanding. We went grocery shopping and they were both so good. So for the next couple weeks my house will be a disaster, but I hope I will be able to keep a good attitude, because it is means to an end that I am very excited for.

A nice change

Gracie is getting good at falling asleep anywhere when she is tired. William never has done this, except in the car. And Gracie never did it either until a few months ago.

Here she was tired so she climbed up next to me while I watched Project Runway and fell fast asleep. We took these pictures before Russ picked her up to hold her. He loves to have her sleep on him.

It is just nice to have a child that wants to sleep when she is tired.

Don't Eat Pete

We played Don't Eat Pete a few weeks ago during Family Home Evening. The gist of the game is that one person leaves the room and you pick a number m&m to be "Pete" when the person comes back in they get to start eating the m&m's until they get to Pete and then everyone says (or yells) "don't eat Pete".
William makes is easy because he stares very hard at which ever one is Pete. (The last time we played I taught him not to do this).
Gracie is a little scared of the game. Maybe because some people are really loud.
Even though we try and be quiet for her she still sits on my lap and I have to pick up the m&m's for her. This is funny because I get reminded by my siblings a lot that I cried when we played this game when I was little. But I had a lot of older siblings and they all yelled it at me.

This picture is funny because I accidentally had the timer on and it just took it when I was sitting there playing, but it is not a bad picture.

This really is a fun game but I think I am going to make a new card so that we can use other things besides m&m's, because they are not my favorite.

Leftovers

Happy Valentines Day

from my door.

I made some fabric roses for some center pieces I did and I didn't know what to do with them after. Until I thought of this. As I was making it I realized I should be taking pictures to show how I did it. But I was watching Terminator Salvation with Russ and that would have ruined it. But I will try and post on my blog how I made the flowers and briefly explain the wreath. Someday:)

Fountains in January

In January I got together with friends for lunch to say goodbye to our good friend Lauren before she head out on her excursion in Ghana. Outside there are some fountains and the kids played while we visited. I didn't worry about them getting wet because I had towels in the car, and it was surprisingly warm outside. The picture below was taken right after William got sprayed in the face.

I don't know if you can tell, but they are both all wet.
If they have this much fun in January, it is going to be a blast in August.

What happens when I buy strawberries

I always buy and extra box because once they see them, that is what they want. And they want them all!

An unplanned birthday party

After the baby shower (I already posted a little about this) I wanted to open my birthday present so Connie and Mimi ran home to get Connie's present she had gotten me and a to get a cake. The cake had Tinkerbell on it and Gracie was sooooo excited about that. Don't be fooled by the 27 on the cake. Connie had a momentary brain malfunction and bought the wrong number. I am 26. Then the kids helped me open my gift from Russ that was wrapped beautifully with pages from the Anthropologie catalogue.

He actually did it! He bought me the camera!
And I am so happy!
Then Connie got me the cutest green dress. I am contemplating slowly changing to an all green wardrobe.

Then William brought me his present (his toy gun wrapped in a blanket). Look how pleased he looks.William loves presents. Getting them and giving them.
And Gracie thought the dress was so pretty that we needed to dance.

Then we put the kids to bed and watched Whip it. What a lovely unplanned birthday it was.

Baby Walker Shower

One of my best friends Lindsey had her first baby in December but was out of state. Since she is here now I threw her a baby shower. Everything I made for the shower I made so that Lindsey could take them and use them in his nursery. This is the fabric tree. I used starch to stick it to the wall. That's it, starch and my fingers. It peals off leaving the fabric and wall unharmed. All you have to do is wash the fabric if you wanted to use it for something else. The is the alphabet/ "hi" poster for his room.

Then the animal pictures which were really fun and pretty easy to make. I just couldn't frame them because of the button eyes. I will have to rethink that.

The name banner, which is nice to do when the baby is born and named.
The felt banner - super easy to make. (This is the one thing she didn't take so if any of you could use it sometime let me know)
Here is the handsome husband making mini patties for the mini burgers.
Lindsey and I used to talk about some day opening a store full of little things because we both liked them so much. So, I knew I had to make mini burgers.
The spread. Lots of mini and yummy things. I only made the burgers. Everything else was brought by awesome people.

William waited all week to meet this little Wesley.
As part of the shower I had guests make scrapbook pages for his baby book. Here is some of the ribbon stash coming out.

Here are the pictures to be scrapbooked.
Such a cute sleeper. And so true:)
This look on Lindsey's face is a, oh-my-gosh-this-is-so-cute face. Her sister in law made that for her.Wesley's mother and grandmother
Here are the ladies making their pages.
I love this picture of Courtney. Partly because it looks like she is scratching her armpit, but I know she isn't:)
Connie trying to get Kenzie to come out of her shell (she is really shy) and Gracie kept wanting to touch her hair. Probably because hers is so strait and formed and Gracie's is...well, wiley.

I wish I knew what I was laughing at, anyone remember?
We all thought it was pretty cute to see a mini person eating a mini burger.
Here we are as people were leaving finishing up some scrapbook pages. It was a fun day!
