Gracie's Birthday - Part one

I posted about her birthday party with my family back in July, but did not have a camera for the Christensen party. I finally got the pictures from Russ' dad and here you have it. I will post it here now, but for the blog book's sake I will be moving it back to where it belongs.

The evening was spent at Aunt Erin's (Russ' sister) house. We swam, well everyone else swam while I watched and family was kind enough to play with Gracie. Here she is with her Aunt Shaleigh.
William had a fantastic time.
And it looks like Russ had a good time too. What is he doing? And here is the "poop check" as Russ calls it. Don't worry she was clean;)

Self Portrait

So I would not describe William as the artistic type. He likes to draw sometimes, but he does not love it, if you catch my meaning. He has just started drawing people and Russ and I love the hips/pelvis area. This is done without any instruction besides watching Russ and I draw stick figures sometimes. This is a picture of himself. He added the arms later. What a striking resemblance.

Bananas and Bedhead

Gracie loves to start her day out with a "nana"
Sweet tired eyes

Did you notice that those cute little fingernails are painted?
Here is Connie painting them last night while we watched Calamity Jane. Gracie looks mad, but she is just concentrating...on how to stick her finger in the bottle again.
She really did think it was fun.

Getting Old

This past weekend Russ and I went to the lake with Jacie and Nick. Russ was so excited he had not been wake boarding in over two years I think and was ready to get the dust off his board. It was very fun for me to go and remember the first time I laid eyes on this hunk at the very same lake. Jacie had not heard the story of how we met so I got to tell her all about it and that combined with watching him on the lake again gave me some really good feelings.

He is making a really great face in the picture above

He kept trying all his trick, but could not get enough air to land them. When we left he told me that that was the last time he will ever wake board. It was kinda sad, he said that he will sell his board and buy a wake surf board (is that what it is called?) He said it just isn't fun when you can't do anything and at first I was sad that he was giving up but after seeing him that night and next day there is no way in h--- I would let him do it again. He was so soar and stiff and bruised. He is doing much better today, but man it is crazy to be getting old (when really we are still young).I think this is when he bruised his upper butt/lower back, don't you? Yikes! And here is Jacie showing some fine wake boarding skills, and NO flapping (inside joke) And here is Nick catching some serious air. It was a very fun trip and I am glad they invited us. From now on its tubes and wake surfing for us.

Sell crazy somewhere else...

...we're all stocked up here.

Exhibit one - The Mother
seen here cooking onions wearing swimmers goggles.

Reason: at least 75% of the dinners she cooks has the foundations of olive oil, garlic, and ONIONS. Onions make her cry...bad. Like she can't keep her eyes open, but continues to chop and is afraid of loosing a finger. Other methods she has tried: chopping the onion that is submerged in a sink full of water (too time consuming), chewing mint gum (works sometimes, but not that well and maybe she doesn't want to chew mint gum every night right before dinner), and freezing the onion (this still makes her cry). The winner: Goggles!
Oh, and she had decided to wear skirts more often. A lot more often. Like everyday.

Exhibit two - The Son

Seen here rolling into the kitchen to get his lunch, he rolled a good five yards to get his honey sandwich (that's right, just honey and whole wheat - cut up into triangles.)

Also seen falling asleep like this:or like this. You can take your pick of the craziest.

Yes, he is laying on the floor right next to his bed.Exhibit three - The Daughter

seen putting a wal-mart sticker on her head, sticky side up,Then putting it on her cup,Then laughing at herself and how funny she is, The throwing her head into her mothers leg and pillows.
Exhibit four - The Father
seen loving these other crazies and taking care of them, thank goodness for him

Pool Time

This is the other evening at the pool. Gracie started a new thing where she would just walk right into the pool. This how it is in stopped motion, 1. The step 2. the catch
3. The smile, she loved it
Here is what it looks like in real motion. I love her walk, I can't get enough of it.

William also had a fun time too.
He can't quite swim on his own yet. He could if he believed he could, but he gets too scared and hangs out on the step.
Or he just hangs on usGracie was pretty happy the whole time
Until she hit her bum on the edge of the pool while stepping in. She just walked around crying for a few minutes and then came over so I could give her a half hug, then she walked away. She does not get much comfort from hugs. After that she was more cautious about going in......and wouldn't unless Russ was holding her hands. Here is where she would splash with her feet and then shimmy (this is how she dances and I LOVE it!) This is how it looks in stopped motion
1. Splash
2. DanceThis is how it looks in real motion...really cute!
